Making Your Yard a Pollinator Oasis

Making Your Yard a Pollinator Oasis In-Person

Calvin Alexander from the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association will give a presentation on how to create a habitat in your yard that is beneficial to pollinators.  Pollen-rich native plants, shelter, and a water source are essential.  Choosing a variety of plants that will bloom at different times throughout the spring, summer, and fall ensures that pollinators have continuous nourishment. Come with your questions!

After completing his studies in agriculture at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, Calvin came to URI to focus on aquaculture and fisheries technology.  He has been keeping bees for nine years and has seventeen hives scattered across Rhode Island.  He and his wife are the owners of Bailey Beattie Apiaries in Warwick.

Come with your questions!
